International schools in Estonia

International schooling in Estonia is concentrated almost entirely in Tallinn, where a handful of schools teach in English. The dominant offering is the International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum (PYP, MYP and Diploma) rather than British (IGCSE/A-Level) or American programmes, which are not well represented. Annual fees commonly range from roughly €8,000 to €15,000, with the most established school offering senior tracks into the mid-€20,000s. There are only a few schools, so places can be limited — apply early.

Public schools and homeschooling

Children of legal residents can attend Estonian public schools free of charge. Instruction is in Estonian, and under the 2024–2030 language reform state and municipal schools are transitioning fully to Estonian-language teaching; schools provide Estonian-as-a-second-language support and individual curricula for newly arrived pupils. Younger children usually pick up the language quickly, while older teens often prefer an international school. Homeschooling (koduõpe) is legal and regulated under the Basic Schools and Upper Secondary Schools Act: the parental-choice route requires annual application to the child's registered school and regular assessment, and is generally available only up to age 12.
