Worldwide taxation
A tax system under which residents are taxed on their global income, wherever it is earned.
Most high-tax countries use worldwide taxation: once you're tax resident, they tax your income from every country. Moving to a territorial or zero-tax country is how many people legally escape it.
Why it matters
Understanding whether your current country taxes worldwide income is the first step in planning a move — and in appreciating how much a change of residency can save.
